Privacy Policy
The short version
- Snug does not collect, sell or share your personal data.
- There are no accounts and no third-party analytics.
- Puzzles are made and stored on your device. We never see your photos.
- When you share a puzzle, it goes only to the person you choose.
Who we are
Snug is made by JSX Games Ltd. In this policy, “we” and “us” mean JSX Games Ltd. If you have a question about this policy, see Contact.
What data Snug uses
Photos you choose
When you make a puzzle from a photo, Snug uses the system photo picker, so it only ever sees the photos you pick — not the rest of your library. If you take a photo with the camera instead, that photo is used to make your puzzle. Your photos are processed entirely on your device and are never sent to us or anyone else.
Puzzles and progress
Your puzzles, saved progress, daily puzzle streak and stats are stored locally on your device. We cannot see them.
Settings and reminders
Your preferences, such as table colour and sound, are stored on your device. If you turn on the daily reminder, it is scheduled on your device as a local notification; nothing is sent to a server.
What we don't collect
Snug has no sign-in and does not collect your name, email address, location, contacts, advertising identifier or usage analytics. Snug does not include advertising or tracking software.
Crash reports from Apple
If you have chosen to share analytics with app developers in your device settings, Apple may provide us with anonymous crash reports and basic usage statistics. We use these only to fix bugs. You can turn this off in Settings › Privacy & Security › Analytics & Improvements.
Sharing puzzles
When you share a puzzle, Snug creates a puzzle file containing the picture and how it was cut. Before the file is made, the picture is resized and its location and camera details (EXIF metadata) are removed. You choose how to send it — for example Messages, Mail or AirDrop — and that app or service's own privacy policy applies. There is no Snug server: the file never passes through us.
When someone sends you a puzzle, it is stored on your device like any other puzzle.
Snug Plus purchases
Snug Plus is bought through Apple's App Store. Apple handles the payment, and we never receive your payment details. Snug only checks with Apple whether Plus has been purchased on your Apple Account, including through Family Sharing. Apple's handling of your data is covered by Apple's own privacy policy.
Permissions
Snug only asks for permission when you use a feature that needs it: camera access if you take a photo for a puzzle, permission to add images to your photo library if you save a finished puzzle, and permission to send notifications if you turn on the daily reminder. Choosing photos from your library doesn't need a permission, because the photo picker only shares the photos you select. You can change permissions at any time in your device's Settings app.
Keeping and deleting your data
Your puzzles and progress stay on your device. Deleting Snug removes all of its data from your device. Because we don't hold any of your data on our servers, there is nothing for us to delete on our side.
Children
Snug is suitable for general audiences and does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law, including the UK GDPR, you have rights over your personal data, such as the right to access, correct or delete it. Since Snug doesn't collect personal data, we generally won't hold any information about you — but if you contact us by email, we'll use your message only to reply, and delete it when it's no longer needed. If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk).
Changes to this policy
If Snug's features change in a way that affects your privacy, we'll update this page and the “Last updated” date above. Significant changes will also be noted in the app's release notes.
